Today’s words of the week are first foods. Parents often ask me what the best first foods are to feed their children. The best foods to feed your children first are iron-containing foods. This is because little ones
at around six months old are at an increased risk
of iron deficiency anemia. Examples of good sources
of iron are red meat, white meat, green leafy
vegetables, and legumes. Foods such as red meat,
white meat, and fish contain what is called haem iron. Haem iron is more readily
absorbed by the human body than non-haem iron that is
found in plant sources of iron. For more information, be sure to check out our YouTube channel.
