On September 23 the University of Arkansas
poultry science community met to celebrate a new school year at the Back 2 School Bash.
There were eighty-four undergraduates in poultry science, and there’s thirty faculty with the
center and the department together, so that’s a pretty strong faculty to student ratio.
Professors welcomed students back to the poultry science department family with a rotisserie
chicken lunch prepared by faculty and staff. The event gave students a chance to meet each
other, make friends and network with faculty. All the Professors are super nice, super friendly,
super helpful. If I have any questions I can email them pretty much any time of day and
they’ll get back real quick. They’re very knowledgeable and they’re out
there for the best interest of the students and not themselves.
I’m Eleni Sloberg, I’m from Minnesota and I’m studying poultry science this year at
the University of Arkansas as a freshman. I chose University of Arkansas because of
the great poultry science program and I had looked into animal science and other programs
at other places throughout the state, in Minnesota and other places, and this just really stood
out among all of them and made me really enjoy poultry science a lot more.
Just because of the U of A’s location and their staff, it’s just the best place in the
U.S. to go for poultry science. I’m interested in poultry science because
I want to provide a safe source of protein for the world’s people.
