Hi guys, I’m Seonkyoung Longest.
Welcome to “Asian at Home”! Today, I’m going to show you how to make
Mie Goreng! Mie Goreng is Indonesian stir-fried noodles,
it’s very very popular on the street and everywhere! You wanna know how to make it? Let’s get start
it! First, you need prepare your egg noodles.
You can use any type of egg noodles you can find at your local grocery stores. Dry, fresh,
semi-fresh, whatever it is just follow the directions of the package you are using and prepare that way. And I’m going to chop 2 cloves of garlic. Half of shallot, chop finely. It’s about 1/4cup. About an once of carrot, just for the color. Any type of green leaf vegetables, today I’m
going to use Yu Choy, because they cook really fast and tender. You can use Chinese green
cabbage or regular green cabbage, bok choy, any green leaf vegetable that you have. Cut
into bite sizes. And the last vegetable is beansprouts. It
seems like I’ve been using bean spouts every single one of my stir-fry noodles. But because
they are so good with stir-fry noodles, just amazing. Because they are kind of like vegetable
noodles, you know. You will need about 3 once, but you can use
more for your taste. For the protein, I’m going to use shrimp today, because just looove
shrimp in this recipe. But you can definitely use your favorite protein such as chicken,
beef, pork, or even vegetarian version to make tofu, mushrooms, it will be super delicious.
So I’m just gonna set aside right here, let’s make the sauce.
1 teaspoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce, Kecap Manis. You’ve got to use
this for the signature sweet flavor in mie goreng. 1 tablespoon of sambal for that little
slightly spiciness. 1 teaspoon of dark soy sauce for the signature brown color of mie
goreng. And 1/4 cup of chicken stock. Mix everything well and the sauce is done! Alright, let’s heat our wok! Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and the shrimp.
Season shrimp with very small pinch of salt and pepper, about 1/8 teaspoon. And cook 1
to 2 minutes both sides. Remove shrimp from the wok, and set aside. Add another tablespoon of cooking oil along with chopped garlic and shallot. Stir fry
them about 1 to 2 minutes or until you smell the fragrance, then add carrot and the green
vegetable you are using. Stir fry all together for about minute or until the vegetables are soften. Now, add prepared noodles and the sauce. Keep stirring until everything is well combined, and the noodle has soaked up all the deliciousness
sauce, about 2 to 3 minutes. At this point, add beansprouts and cooked shrimp. Stir everything together. Last touch, I’m going to sprinkle fried shallot
right on top. I bought this from my local Asian grocery store. But you can order from
online or make your own. Remove from heat, and you’re done~! Finish mie goring by place a fried egg right
on top. You can scramble the egg actually into the mie goreng, and that’s super delicious.
But I loooove fried egg on my mie goreng, so I just choose to do this way. But it’s
up to you. Alright, let’s dig in~! You know, the thing I really about this, it’s sweet, very slightly spicy and very slightly
savory. (SK) Really well balanced all the flavors.
(Jacob) Ah, that’s balanced perfect. (Jacob) Even though you don’t know what’s
balance is it’s still very good…..Um, (Jacob) Sorry, saving up for the later (Jacob) Don’t mind us. (Jacob) I know I can kill this right now.
(SK) By yourself? (Jacob) I will share. (Jacob) oh, I thought that was for me, I was like- If you liked my Mie Goreng recipe, give me a thumbs up!
