In this video we are creating a recipe with three words from Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ lyrics.
The first ingredient is Tesco’s QUICK cook penne pasta. I measured out a 100g and put it to boil on medium heat. Pour enough water to cover the pasta in the pot. I added half a teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of olive oil (small trick so the pasta doesn’t stick together). I only had to boil it for 5 minutes but boil your pasta according to the directions on the packet. Set the strained pasta aside. With the cooker set on medium, I heated some olive oil in the pan, non-stick is probably best. Already chopped up two garlic cloves and added that, feel free to add more if you don’t mind the garlic-ky taste and fry till slightly golden brown. Second ingredient is 120g of DRY cure bacon, I chose the smoked version. I can’t count how many times this knife has cut me… Stir to separate the bacon in the pan. Next, I chopped up one chicken breast which was about 240g. Sprinkled in about half a teaspoon of salt. Forgot to weigh the basil but a pinch will do.
Fun-fact, this is my first YouTube video, don’t forget to subscribe! Add as much chilli flakes as you can handle then stir up, half a tablespoon was fine for me. This is one of the few dishes where I can stand mushrooms, I only used 100g. Take your time in mixing all the flavours together and leave to simmer for five minutes. I’m big on sauce so I used two cups of whole milk and one cup of double cream.
#thisisnotaweightlossvideo Next up is a quarter cup of grated parmesean cheese and one 4g knorr chicken stock cube (not the fancy one from Tesco’s, the one from the local Afro & Caribbean shop that look like mini cuboids). Mix up! Boil till it thickens to your desired consistency. I boiled mine for about five minutes then added in the pasta. At this point, I ~slightly~ considered I might have made too much sauce for my pasta… But Doja Cat herself once said and I quote – “I keep it juicy juicy, I eat that lunch (yeah).” There’s no such thing as ‘too much sauce,’ so we move. Luckily it turned out perfect, when you leave it to cool after cooking the sauce thickens up n i c e l y.
Life’s too short to deny yourself… The third ingredient was a bottle of MAD goose premium pale ale. Fun-fact, I’ve never tried ale.
From this challenge, I learned that ale is absolutely disgusting and I never want to drink it again. Wow… would you look at that. Sprinkle on some more parmesean cheese if you’re fancy. Fun-fact, this is my first time ever cooking this and I’ll definetely be cooking this again the exact same way.
Minus the ale. Again, this is my first YouTube video and I now have a new found respect for Youtubers. Editing this video nearly finished me. Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE for more recipes coming soon!
