I’m from the north
and I’m from the south and today we made the good southern meal
called “Chicken Bog”. This goes a long way and it’s easy and simple to make and
it’s another recipe from the South that I don’t know about and I’m learning how to
make it today and we’ll be right back Welcome back y’all
TA I’ve heard a lot about the chicken bog but I’ve never had it, I’ve never made it,
so will you teach me how to make it today sure and I’m going to tell you a little bit about it
to the chicken bog was related to the boggy nature of its home, the “PD swamp”
and a bog is anything that includes wet soggy rice, okay so that’s what we’re
gonna make it soon your rice turns out soggy it doesn’t matter, cuz it’s supposed to be that way so I took about four chicken breasts and I’m gonna put them in the water, we’re gonna I’m showing you their ingredients cuz I’m
gonna put this on the boil this is for chicken breasts, we’re gonna
put this on to boil, until it’s ready cooked and 1/4 of a cup of chicken
bouillon and about a medium onion, and three stalks of celery, and
we’re gonna put some salt and pepper in it it looks like it has a lot of water in
it now but that water is going to cook down, so don’t worry about that. So and
the celery has to get done and the onions have to get done. And just put you
a dash of garlic powder in there, because it goes a long way and you will be
surprised it’s so so good and it has a a history to it. So we’ll be back in a
minute. Okay welcome back, I’m going to let you
know we have a little while for this to cook so while this cooking down, what I
did was I took and let the water with the seasonings cook down probably about
3/4 of the way in the pot and I took the chicken out when it was done and I
shredded it, or broke it up, I broke it up and put it back in to the pot, and
then I took probably about three and a half cups of rice and I poured it over, I
brought it to a boil and you let it boil for several minutes uncovered, and then
you let it simmer until it’s soggy and boggy. If it’s not soggy and boggy then
you messed up! So don’t ever think you can mess up on this rice, because you
could let it cook and it’s supposed to be soggy and boggy.
Will you tell me difference between that one rice and the boggy rice?
The difference between rice pilaf and Chicken Bog, is that rice pilaf is a
steamed rice, and chicken bog is a boggy rice. Like you said so and it’s famous, its
famous in the South, along the PD River I think I already told y’all that. So we’ll be back. Welcome back y’all
