Yes! egg yolk is nutritious but has high amount of phosphorus According to doctors, kidney patients should not eat eggs as they put pressure on the kidneys. However, the white portion of the egg is extremely healthy for kidney patients. That is the reason why it is recommended in the renal diet plan. The white portion of the egg contains high-quality and kidney-friendly protein. The patients who are on dialysis are recommended by their doctors to eat the white portion of eggs. Because the patients who are on dialysis need a high amount of protein. But, the patients on dialysis need to limit their intake of phosphorus. So, if you are taking dialysis, then follow the diet plan that your doctors prescribed. Two large egg whites are 66 gram, which contains sodium 110 mg, potassium 108 mg, and phosphorus 10 mg. If we talk about eating egg in Chronic Kidney Disease. So, the patients of chronic kidney disease or CKD are advisable to follow a specific diet depending on the severity and stages of the disease. The patients with CKD are advisable to limit the intake of potassium and phosphorus. Eggs are counted as the cheap, easily available and high quality source of protein. An sufficient amount of amino acid is present in the egg that helps your muscles in the consumption of protein. However, the egg yolk is usually higher in phosphorus and trimethylamine (TMA), which is harmful to the patients with CKD. The egg yolk is also the high source of cholesterol that increase the risk of having lipoprotein cholesterol and heart problems. Dialysis patients need to sustain a healthy level of cholesterol in the body to reduce the risk of developing dyslipidemia. Egg yolk is also a good source of nutrients like Lutein, Zeaxanthin, vitamin D and bio-active. All these nutrients are healthy for a person with CKD. According to the nephrologist, egg yolk is helpful to keep maintaining the level of phosphorus, albumin in your body. Albumin is a sort of protein present in the blood. According to The National Kidney Foundation, the level of albumin in the blood should be present 4.0g/dl or more. Albumin is available in the foods like fish, eggs, and milk. All these foods are also the high sources of phosphorus, which should be limited. In the study, it has shown that 90% of dialysis patients who eat eggs get positive results from it. If we talk about the benefits of eating eggs, then we got to know that it is a good source of maintaining the healthy level of albumin and phosphorus in the blood. On the other hand, we can observe that hemodialysis patients can consume 28 gram of protein every day. The white part of the egg is healthy for our kidneys, including our body.
